Hayyalasalah is built around two complementary displays that work together automatically throughout the day.
Signage Display — Main Hall TV
A full 1920×1080 display running in your main hall or foyer. Shows rotating Islamic content, a live prayer time footer with countdown, a scrolling announcements ticker, and automatically transitions to pre-prayer and prayer screens at the correct times. Managed entirely from a web browser.
Prayer Kiosk Screen — Prayer Hall
A dedicated display in the prayer hall running on a small kiosk PC. Automatically cycles through: idle splash, countdown to Jamaat, the prayer name in large Arabic text, and post-prayer adhkaar. Continues working offline if internet is unavailable. Connects back to the main signage after the adhkaar period.
Devices
Pick the device that suits your hall
Every option is supported and tested.
Raspberry Pi 3, Pi 4, or Pi 5
The simplest way to run the Prayer Kiosk screen. We provide a ready-made image you write to an SD card — plug the Pi into your TV with an HDMI cable and it just works. Fully offline: once it has your prayer times, it will keep running even if the internet goes down.
An Android app that runs both the Prayer Kiosk and the main hall Signage. Works on phones, tablets, Android TVs, and inexpensive Android TV boxes. Works offline too — with a few small limits compared to the Raspberry Pi (some weather and live status panels need a connection).
Not sure which device is right for your mosque? Send us a message and we will help you pick.
NEW Public Websites
Now every mosque gets its own website
A free, public website for your masjid, live at a link you can share. No web designer, no hosting bill.
Designed themes, or your own colours. Five ready-made looks and custom fonts, plus a pick-your-own-palette option that keeps text readable automatically.
Prayer times built in. A full timetable page, an embeddable widget for any website, and a calendar visitors can subscribe to on their phones.
Everything your community needs. Photo gallery, services & classes, projects, announcements, upcoming events, donations and a contact form.
Your own address, published in one click. Edited any time from the same dashboard you already use — the times and events stay in step with your screens.
Hayyalasalah is offered free of charge to every mosque, in every country, forever. It is a waqf — an endowment — given for the sake of Allah ﷻ.

Bismillāhir-Raḥmānir-Raḥīm.
This platform began as a quiet idea four years ago: that the same technology powering billboards in shopping centres and adverts on every street corner could, instead, serve the houses of Allah. That a mosque — no matter how small, no matter where in the world — should never be priced out of a modern, dignified screen in its hall and prayer room. After four years of design, building, breaking, and rebuilding, that idea is finally live.
Hayyalasalah turns an ordinary television and a small computer into something the whole congregation benefits from every day. It shows the five daily prayer times with a live countdown to the next Jamaat, the Dua after the Adhan, a calm countdown into prayer, the prayer name in large Arabic at Jamaat, the Adhkaar after the prayer, rotating verses of the Qur'an, hadith, the 99 Beautiful Names of Allah, daily duas, a scrolling announcements ticker for the community, fundraising campaigns with a scannable QR code, fully custom text panels written by the mosque itself, Friday and Eid displays, Ramadan iftar and suhoor countdowns, sunrise and Ishraq reminders. All of it managed from any web browser, by anyone the mosque trusts — no engineer required.
Alḥamdulillāh, Allah ﷻ has given many of us a skill in this dunya. For me that skill is software. I could think of no better way to spend it than to lay it at the feet of the Ummah and ask Him to accept it. There is no subscription, no licence fee, no advert, no upsell. The cost to the mosque is zero, today and forever.
If this platform helps even one congregation pray on time, lifts one community's daily reminder, or simply lets one tired imam stop fiddling with a USB stick on a Friday morning — then by Allah's mercy it has done its work.
"When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for him."
It is in the spirit of that hadith that this work is offered. A mosque is the noblest place to leave a trace — and a screen that calls people to prayer, five times a day, every day, in a hundred mosques, is the kind of trace one prays Allah ﷻ will weigh on the right side of the scale.
Small stories along the way
The brother with the USB stick
An imam friend of mine used to walk to his mosque thirty minutes before Jumu'ah every Friday — not to make wuḍū, not to prepare his khuṭbah, but to plug a USB stick into the hall TV and fix whatever PowerPoint had decided to break that week. He told me, half-joking, that he had recited Āyat al-Kursī over a HDMI cable more times than over his children. I thought of him often while writing this. May Allah ﷻ ease the affairs of every brother and sister who has ever stood on a chair to reach a screen on a Friday morning.
The small mosque in a small town
Not every masjid has a budget. Some are a single rented room above a shop, with a kettle, a prayer mat rolled in the corner, and a handful of regulars who keep the lights on out of their own pockets. The big software houses do not build for those mosques — there is no margin in it. But the Prophet ﷺ taught us that Allah ﷻ does not look at our forms or our wealth; He looks at our hearts and our deeds. So Hayyalasalah was built for the mosque above the kebab shop just as much as for the grand masjid in the city centre. The login is the same. The features are the same. The price is the same: nothing.
The well of 'Uthmān
When the Muslims of Madīnah were thirsty and one Jewish man owned the only sweet well, 'Uthmān ibn 'Affān (raḍiy Allāhu 'anhu) bought half of it and gave it to the people, then bought the rest and made the whole well a waqf for the Ummah. They say that well is still flowing today, and the reward still flowing with it. A line of code is a humbler thing than a well of water. But the intention is the same: build it once, give it away, and let Allah ﷻ water whomever He wishes from it.
We ask Allah ﷻ to accept this small effort, to make it a continuing charity (ṣadaqah jāriyah) for everyone who has helped along the way, and to make it a means of guidance and benefit for the Ummah until the Last Day. Āmīn.
Features
Everything a mosque needs
Built specifically for masjids — not adapted from generic signage software.
Multi-mosque support
Each mosque gets its own isolated account, prayer times table, image storage, announcements, and user. Multiple mosques can run from a single server without any cross-contamination of data.
Changes appear in seconds
Edit a prayer time, post an announcement, or upload a new photo, and the screen in the hall updates within about half a minute. No need to restart anything.
Prayer kiosk screen
A simple full-screen prayer display for the prayer hall. It counts down to the next prayer, shows the prayer name in large Arabic, and cycles through the adhkaar afterwards. We ship a ready-made Raspberry Pi image (works on Pi 3, Pi 4 and Pi 5) for full offline use, and an Android version for phones and Android TVs.
Works anywhere in the world
Designed for mosques in every country. Pick your nation, postcode and time zone during registration — prayer times, the calendar and weather follow your local settings automatically.
Seasonal awareness
Special screens turn on automatically for Ramadan (suhoor & iftar countdowns, last 10 nights), Hajj & the Day of Arafah, Eid al-Fitr & Eid al-Adha, Muharram & Ashura, Mawlid, Mid-Sha'ban, and Laylatul Qadr — no buttons to press.
Friday-aware
On Fridays the screen reminds the congregation about Surah Al-Kahf, opens the Golden Hour 30 minutes before Jumu'ah, and surfaces the special du'a time between the two khutbahs.
Smart prayer states
Built-in modes for the call to adhan, the countdown, the Jamaat itself, the adhkaar afterwards, Tahajjud in the last third of the night, Sunrise / Ishraq, and the Takbir of Eid — all without staff input.
Live status dashboard
A public page at /status.php shows whether everything is running smoothly. If anything is wrong, you will see it there before you have to ask.
Islamic calendar engine
Five automatic Hijri sources — Umm al-Qura, moonsighting.org.uk, Wifaqul Ulama, AlAdhan and the New Crescent Society (UK) — refreshed daily and corrected the moment a sighting is announced, plus a Manual calendar where your mosque records its own moon sightings month by month and every screen and printed timetable follows. Automatic seasonal detection for Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Dhul Hijjah and Ayyam al-Beed. The Islamic day advances at Maghrib.
Announcements and Janazah
Scrolling ticker for general announcements with date-range support and auto-expiry. Separate janazah management: notices display prominently on the day of the funeral only, with full detail fields for time, location, and burial.
Offline capable
The prayer kiosk continues functioning without internet using a locally copy of prayer data, refreshed hourly when internet is available.
Getting Started
Up and running in minutes
Self-service registration with instant provisioning — no waiting for an administrator to approve your account.
1
Register your mosque
Click Register in the top-right and follow the 4 short steps — mosque name, contact details, then a password. Your Mosque ID is created for you. It takes about 2 minutes.
2
Receive your credentials by email
Your account is created straight away. You will receive a welcome email with your Mosque ID (looks like MSQ-1234) — the one thing you sign in with — a link to sign in, and a friendly setup guide.
3
Pick your device
For the first setup you will need an internet connection. After that, a Raspberry Pi 3, 4 or 5 with a 16 GB SD card runs the prayer kiosk fully offline. An Android phone or Android TV will also work — it runs offline too, with a few small limits. The prayer kiosk works best on a screen of 32 inches or more; the main hall signage works best on 42 inches or more.
4
Download & install
Visit our Downloads page for the ready-made Raspberry Pi image and the Android app. We will be on the Google Play Store soon, inshaAllah — for now you can install the Android app straight from the Downloads page.
5
Manage everything from the admin panel
Sign in to your dashboard to upload your logo, add announcements, upload community photos, customise the colour theme, and edit prayer times. All changes appear on screen within 20-40 seconds.
When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest,

Daily Hadith
“Abu Huraira reported Abu'l-Qasim (the kunya of the Holy Prophet) (ﷺ) as saying:There is a time on Friday at which no Muslim would stand and pray and beg Allah for what Is good but He would give it to him; and he pointed with his hand that (this time) is short and narrow.”
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. Allahumma ajurni fi musibati wa akhlif li khayran minha
Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah, reward me for my affliction and give me something better in its place.

Frequently Asked
Questions mosques ask before they sign up
What does Hayya Alas-Salah cost?
The platform is free for mosques worldwide. You provide an Android TV box (or any web-capable display) and a screen; we provide the signage software, prayer times, content rotation, and admin tools at no charge.
Where does the Hijri date come from?
Each mosque picks its preferred source — Umm al-Qura, moonsighting.org.uk, Wifaqul Ulama, AlAdhan or the New Crescent Society (UK) — so the Islamic date matches the one your community follows. Mosques that follow their own sighting choose the Manual calendar and record each month's start in the admin; days not yet sighted fall back to the source you pick, and the printed timetable marks them as predicted until you record the sighting.
Does the screen design look modern?
Yes. Our newest layout (Cinematic Design 6) fills the screen edge-to-edge and rotates through 29 large, beautifully typeset information panels — no cluttered sidebars and no tiny text. Older designs are still available if you prefer them.
Does it work outside the UK?
Yes — Hayyalasalah is built for mosques anywhere in the world. During registration you choose your country and postcode, and the prayer times, weather and calendar all follow your local settings automatically.
What content rotates on the screen?
Daily Qur'an, daily Hadith, daily Du'a, 99 Names of Allah, Islamic history events matched to today's Hijri date, the 10 Companions promised paradise (Asharah Mubasharah), Islamic quotes, Adhkaar after salah, fundraisers, custom mosque announcements, Janazah notices, weekly timetable, and more. Each panel is toggleable per-mosque.
Does it handle Ramadan and Eid automatically?
Yes. The signage detects Ramadan, the 10 nights, Laylatul Qadr, Eid, Hajj, and Dhul-Hijjah from the Hijri calendar and switches to seasonal content (Suhoor / Iftar countdowns, Eid greetings, Hajj reminders, etc.) without operator input.
What hardware do I need?
For the Prayer Kiosk screen, the simplest choice is a Raspberry Pi 3, Pi 4 or Pi 5 with our ready-made image — that gives you a fully offline screen. For the main hall Signage you can use any inexpensive Android TV box or Android TV. See the Devices section for details.
Who can edit the mosque's content?
Each mosque has its own admin login. Admins can adjust panels, update Jamaat times, manage fundraisers, upload client images, post announcements, and switch designs — all from a phone or laptop. The kiosk reloads automatically within ~1 minute of saving.
